A note from Ben Natan, founder and co-artistic director
We are so excited to welcome everyone back to our Fortnightly Reading Series after No Exit took a respite to do some internal work. After weeks of meeting, we are back with our upcoming slate of readings “Cycle One: Radical Transitions.”
We’ve decided to move away from the “micro-season” after Ryanne Salzano, our editorial director, offered that “cycle” better captured the essence of what we are doing with these three-reading groupings. “Radical Transitions” best describes the three readings we have decided on, while also encapsulating what No Exit is going through as we continue to build out our artistic collective.
Between “Storm Still” and “Julius Caesar,” we look at what happens when transitions happen too slowly and too quickly. Transfers of powers are messy and we are excited to explore those ideas with these brilliant plays. In “Cold Keener,” the play itself is filled with transitions, as it moves through various vignettes exploring many themes through the incredible words of Zora Neale Hurston.
